Driving lessons
All driving lessons are tailored to suit the individuals needs whether a beginner or someone with some driving experience. Lessons are paced to fit the rate of learning of each pupil. For new drivers the instruction follows a syllabus covering all aspects required by the practical driving test. All driving lessons are on a one to one basis. All pupils can expect to be actually driving the car on the first lesson following a discussion on how to adjust their driving position and operate the main controls. Please note that the Driving Theory Test must be passed prior to booking the Practical Test.
Intensive courses
Intensive courses can be arranged if the pupil feels the need to pass their practical driving test in a reduced time scale.
Pupil notes and records
All pupils are provided with a personal folder containing the syllabus, a copy of the practical test safety check questions and comprehensive driving lesson notes that provide a revision document for the lessons and some assistance for the driving theory test.
Mock test
Prior to taking the formal Practical Driving test, all pupils will undergo a mock test conducted in most cases by myself. The principle of the mock test is to follow a typical driving test route and be scored in as close a manner to the formal test as possible. This enables the pupil to gain an understanding of the methods used by test examiners and understand how driving faults are marked. As with any test situation nerves do play a part and this helps pupils to better cope with the formal driving test.
Pass Plus
This is a voluntary additional driving course intended to provide new drivers with skills and experience greater than that required to pass the standard driving test. It has been shown that in acquiring these additional skills new drivers are less likely to be involved in an accident. Many insurance companies offer reduced premiums to drivers who have received their Pass Plus certificate. The course has six modules, Town driving, All-weather driving, Out of town and rural roads, Night driving and Motorways. The requirements of receiving the certificate are that the pupil should achieve a reasonable understanding of the relevant issues and demonstrate competent driving ability. The course must be a minimum of six hours. No formal test is required.
Refresher driving courses
If you are lacking in confidence in any particular aspect of driving or perhaps have a full license but not driven for some time, then a refresher course may be just what you need to get you on the road again. A refresher course will be tailored to the requirements of the individual. |
